THE EVOLUTION CONTINUES.

LEED–H Pilot Program: Abacus is proud to be the first Central Oregon participant in the U.S. Green Building Council's new LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Home Green Building Rating System. This new, voluntary national standard will help transform the mainstream home building industry toward more sustainable practices.

For more about LEED–H, see the USGBC website.

Indoor air quality: Modern energy–efficient homes are so airtight that keeping indoor air as clean as possible is more critical than ever for healthy living. Abacus uses a combination of materials and features to help ensure that everyone can breathe a little easier:

Fresh air exchangers allow oxygen-rich air to constantly flow into the home, while stale indoor air ventilates outside. These systems reclaim the heat contained in the indoor air and pass it along through a heat exchanger to the incoming air without ever mixing the two air streams. The result: Fresh air without sacrificing energy efficiency.

Zero VOC (volatile organic compounds) interior paints eliminate the gasses released over time by conventional paint formulations.

Radiant floor heating systems keep living spaces barefoot comfortable year round and save energy with ultra-efficient boilers. And unlike forced–air central heating systems, radiant heat doesn't blow dust and allergens throughout the home.
